A Mother’s Vision

María Elena and Stephy’s Story

When María Elena Padilla’s daughter, Stephy, was born with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, their world changed forever. Stephy’s determination to pursue art, despite her challenges, inspired María Elena to create Step Art Org. Today, Stephy’s artwork and advocacy are a testament to the power of perseverance and love. Together, they have built a foundation that empowers countless others.

Stephy’s Story

A Visionary Artist Defying the Odds

Born with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, Stephy Padilla faced challenges from the very beginning of her life. Despite having only 0.05% vision, she discovered her love for art and turned it into her greatest strength. Through countless surgeries, therapies, and obstacles, Stephy’s unwavering spirit and passion for creativity shone brightly.

Her dream of studying art at the University of North Georgia was met with barriers, but she never gave up. Instead, she pursued her passion independently, becoming a professional artist and advocate for others with disabilities. As the co-founder of Step Art Org, Stephy uses her story and artwork to inspire countless individuals to embrace their uniqueness and follow their dreams.

“Art is my voice, my escape, and my power. Through it, I’ve learned that nothing is impossible.”

Eliana Bracho and her son Rubert.

They have been part of the foundation for 3 years.

I am grateful to be part of the Step Art Org foundation. It is a space where I have learned powerful tools to apply in moments when we face challenges as caregivers of those perfectly unique little ones. I know we are a pillar of support, and although we may crumble at times, we cannot afford to stay in that emotional state for long because our children need us. Today, more than ever, I feel that we can give our children the joy they deserve in an environment dedicated to them, like the foundation. God bless them.

I found tools on how to help and educate my daughter

My daughter Anastasia is 22 years old and has a diagnosis that affects her learning and her speech. Although she is successful in what she does, as a mother my anguish is thinking about what I do to make her feel better and where I can find the tools to make her feel better.

We find joy in doing activities that we enjoy

My daughter has an eye condition so she is blind in one eye and sees 40% with the other, but this does not stop her from dreaming of being a fashion designer and although it is difficult because others do not know how to treat children with special talents, she found here the joy of enjoying activities that inspire her to be the designer she dreams of being.

I got the help I needed to connect with my son

I found the support I needed to renew my energy

Why did I lose my leg, what am I going to do, will I be enough for my wife and daughters? There were many questions that came to my mind when I had my accident. But you must seek support and find your reason and realize that you too can be a light with your testimony for others.

Ste part org is the component to help renew your energy and see the new stages of those who are going to encourage you and teach you to know them better through art.
