María Elena Padilla Campo is a prominent Colombian-American leader and entrepreneur, born in Barranquilla, Colombia. She studied Political Economy at the University of Atlántico.
She began her professional career at the Julio Mario Santodomingo Foundation, where she helped small business owners develop administrative and financial skills to create and strengthen their businesses. Later, she worked for 18 years at the Water, Sewerage, and Sanitation Company, where she served as Commercial Director, leading community development and administrative projects.
In 2003, she moved to the United States, where she had a daughter, Stephy Padilla, who was born with special needs in 2005. This experience inspired her to become an advocate for people with disabilities and to found Step Art Org, a non-profit organization that seeks to empower and provide opportunities to people with disabilities through art and inclusion.
María Elena’s daughter, Stephy, is her main source of inspiration and motivation. Her talent and determination have driven María Elena to create Step Art Org and work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
Stephy Padilla is an American artist and activist, born in Georgia with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome. Despite having only 0.05% vision, Stephy has overcome numerous challenges and become an inspiration to many.
During her first 15 years, Stephy underwent numerous hospital stays, therapies, surgeries, and rehabilitation sessions. However, her determination and passion for art led her to graduate from high school with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Stephy always dreamed of studying Art at the University of North Georgia (UNG), but unfortunately, the universities lacked adequate support for young people with her condition. Despite this obstacle, Stephy refused to give up and chose to dedicate herself to her own business as an art creator.
Today, Stephy is a passionate activist who empowers youth and families through her art and her story. As the co-founder of Step Art Org, Stephy uses her platform to promote inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in the art world.
Through her work, Stephy aims to inspire others to overcome their own challenges and to find their passion and purpose. Her story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the importance of never giving up in the face of obstacles.

Her commitment and dedication are exemplary, as she never misses any of our activities. Stephy is responsible for maintaining a close and loving relationship with our volunteers, families, mothers, children and sponsors. Her ability to connect with each of them is unique and enriching.

Blanca Carolina Mejia: A Woman of Faith and Commitment
At the heart of our foundation, there is a woman who has been a witness and an integral part of our growth and evolution. Blanca Carolina Mejia, our general secretary, has walked shoulder to shoulder with Maria Elena Padilla, our founder, for 9 years, sharing a vision and a commitment to the community.
Her connection with Stephy, the inspiration of our foundation, goes back 8 years. She has witnessed her process, her challenges, and her triumphs. And through this experience, she has learned that, yes, it is possible to overcome obstacles and that there is hope for a struggling community.
Carolina has been a fundamental piece in the administrative organization of our foundation. With dedication and efficiency, she takes care of expenses, takes records, and sends internal and external correspondence. Her support to Maria Elena has been invaluable, allowing her to focus on the vision and mission of our foundation.
But her contribution goes beyond administration. Together with Maria Elena, she has created support groups for immigrants, co-written an inspirational book for immigrant women, and accompanied a community of families in their processes. Her commitment to the community is genuine and her heart beats with the passion to serve.
At our foundation, Carolina is more than a general secretary; she is a leader, a friend, and a sister. Her presence is a reminder that together we can achieve great things and that with faith and commitment we can overcome any obstacle.

Blanca Carolina Mejía, nuestra secretaria general, ha caminado hombro a hombro con María Elena Padilla, nuestra fundadora, durante 9 años, compartiendo una visión y un compromiso con la comunidad.
Su conexión con Stephy, la inspiración de nuestra fundación, se remonta a 8 años atrás. Ha presenciado su proceso, sus desafíos y sus triunfos. Y a través de esta experiencia, ha aprendido que, sí, es posible superar obstáculos y que hay esperanza para una comunidad que lucha.
Carolina ha sido una pieza fundamental en la organización administrativa de nuestra fundación. Con dedicación y eficiencia, se encarga de los gastos, toma registros y envía correspondencia interna y externa. Su apoyo a María Elena ha sido invaluable, permitiéndole enfocarse en la visión y la misión de nuestra fundación.
Pero su contribución va más allá de la administración. Her career spans leadership roles in finance and real estate, including her position as President of Camille Viera Services INC and Co-Owner of The Vine Team and La Rosa Realty Georgia. Her strong background in financial management and community service makes her an invaluable asset to Step Art Org.

Pia Candotti has over 12 years of experience as an international lawyer, having worked as a Notary Public in Argentina and as an Attorney in the USA.
In Argentina, she was already advising her clients on the importance of proper succession planning in a legal system with forced heirs. After moving to the USA in 2012, Pia worked in top law firms in Atlanta, advising international clients and companies on aspects of Immigration Law. After completing the process of revalidating her law degree in the USA, she decided to establish her own law firm, Candotti Law Firm, LLC, focused on providing legal advice on future planning and succession trials to the international community.

Luz Piedad Torres-López is an educator with over 30 years of experience in Montessori, specializing in community programs for children. Convinced that the youth community is the fundamental basis for the construction of Montessori education, she has dedicated her life to establishing and directing new community environments using this approach, integrating music as a tool to foster linguistic and social skills. Furthermore, he has worked with children with special needs, demonstrating his commitment to educational inclusion.
Luz Piedad has developed a Spanish program using the Montessori method to promote language learning through immersion, and has led seminars and workshops for priests interested in implementing this approach at home. She is the founder of Growing Up with Montessori, a program that offers consultancy at home, and has collaborated with several organizations such as VporColombia and StepArt.org.
His academic training includes diplomas in early childhood education and primary and infant Montessori, obtained from recognized institutions such as the Asociación Montessori Internacional and the Rosario Institute of Colombia. Lorena Liendo de Arraiz, with 10 years of experience in the area of children’s mental health, is responsible for caring for and regulating the conduct and behavior of our neurodivergent children. Her dedication and expertise are essential to provide comprehensive support to our children.
Lorena is a passionate professional dedicated to teaching and emotional well-being. Born on June 11, 1982 in Caracas, Venezuela, she currently lives in Flowery Branch, Georgia, where she has found a home for herself and her family. Lorena is married and the mother of three wonderful children, which gives a special touch to her empathy and commitment in her work.
With a solid background in psychology from the Central University of Venezuela and more than 15 years of experience in behavioral guidance and teaching, Lorena has combined her love for education and personal development in every project she undertakes. Currently, she is part of the educational team at Lyman Hall Elementary School, in Hall County, where she works as a Pre-k teacher, helping the little ones take their first steps in the world of learning.
In addition to her role as a teacher, Lorena volunteers at the Step.art.org Foundation, focused on the inclusion of people with disabilities. In Venezuela, she stood out as a psychologist at a school for children with special needs and provided support in her private practice, always committed to the emotional and personal growth of her patients.

Lorena es una apasionada profesional dedicada a la enseñanza y al bienestar emocional. Nacida el 11 de junio de 1982 en Caracas, Venezuela, actualmente vive en Flowery Branch, Georgia, donde ha encontrado un hogar para ella y su familia. Lorena está casada y es mamá de tres maravillosos hijos, lo que le da un toque especial a su empatía y compromiso en su trabajo.

Born in Maracay, Venezuela, she has extensive experience as an educator and volunteer in initiatives dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. Her professional background includes roles as a teacher for children with special needs and as a teacher for the deaf, making her an invaluable member of Step Art Org’s Inclusive Foundation.
Currently, Carol contributes to Step Art Org by supporting programs that promote inclusion and the development of individuals with disabilities. She also works as a networker in the health and wellness field, specializing in the immune system. With her academic training in psychopedagogy and her dedication to continuous learning, she stands out as a leader within the Step Art Org team.
Karol is a psychopedagogue and special education teacher with a distinguished department in the area of health, well-being and education. Currently, he resides in Flowery Branch, Georgia, United States, where he works as a networker specializing in immunological systems, combining his passion for human development with his interest in integral well-being.
Throughout her career, she has worked as a teacher of children with special needs at the Mi Rayito de Luz Institute and as a teacher of children at the U.E.N. Maracay. She has also collaborated as a volunteer at the Fundación Inclusiva Step.Art.Org, dedicated to people with disabilities.
